New Microchipping and Desexing Laws
As of the 1st July 2018 all dogs and cats must be microchipped by 12 weeks of age and the details must be entered onto the state-wide register: www.dogsandcatsonline.com.au. If over 12 weeks of age they must still be microchipped and added to the register.
If already microchipped then their current details need to be added to the register.
Dogs and cats born after 1 July 2018 must be desexed by 6 months of age, although some exemptions may apply, these need to be discussed and approved by a vet. If you acquire a new dog after 1 July 2018 it must be desexed within 28 days or by 6 months of age if still a puppy.
